Smita Bharti is the Executive Director of Sakshi, a rights-based organisation pioneering work on gender equality since 1992. Through Sakshi, she has led judicial education on gender equality in the Asia-Pacific and contributed to PILs that informed POSH, POCSO, and the Sexual Assault Bill. A Rotary Global Peace Fellow, playwright, and director, she uses theatre and
storytelling as tools for restorative and transformative justice. Her work spans prisons, policymakers, survivors, and institutions, addressing structural violence, reshaping narratives, and fostering diversity, inclusion, and equality across schools, judiciary, and corporates, with an artistic portfolio of over 50 plays and a web series.
